"Growing up in Oakland with a family that’s seen the world taught me that you have to actually show up for your community. I believe in keeping it real—choosing truth over just keeping the peace—and staying determined no matter what. I try to lead by doing, whether that’s competing in sports, handing out supplies to neighbors in need, or literally digging in the dirt to grow food and build safer hangout spots on my block. I’m training myself to look out for others now so I can be ready to protect my city as a firefighter in the future."
